If you hadn't heard of Waylon Wyatt before Friday night at Greenfield Lake Amphitheater, you weren't alone—but judging by the crowd that turned out, plenty of people have caught on fast.

The 19-year-old singer-songwriter from Hackett, Arkansas, first turned heads when his song "Everything Under the Sun" went viral on TikTok overnight—then record labels came calling. While that might seem like a fluke or algorithmic luck, the packed rail at GLA last Friday says otherwise.

The evening opened with Julia DiGrazia, who warmed the crowd with a tight, engaging set before Wyatt and his band took the stage. By then, it was clear this wasn't the audience and demographics we typically see. Namely, handmade signs lined the front, and there was a clear generational energy that filled the amphitheater and this young artist brought it out.

Wyatt has described his sound as raw and lyric-driven, drawing comparisons to Tyler Childers, Zach Bryan, and Wyatt Flores, and that spirit came through at this show. He sounded seasoned—like someone who's been doing this much longer than he has. He's released two EPs, toured extensively, all while keeping up with schoolwork—a grind and hustle that seems to have little impact to his energy and confidence onstage

Wyatt is currently on his headline "Everywhere Under the Sun" tour, and by his own account, Wilmington ranked among the biggest shows of the run so far—of which the crowd in attendance validated.

There's always something worth watching when an artist is this early in their career. Friday night at GLA felt like one of those moments.
