Overview

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits help 1.4 million North Carolinians obtain food each month. As the nation’s largest food assistance program, SNAP was thrown into disarray earlier this month with the federal shutdown. Good neighbors, food banks, and organizers across the state kicked into high gear to help feed people in North Carolina communities.

NC Local created this resource to make it easier for everyone to find food assistance. Even as the shutdown of the federal government nears its end – and as SNAP payments promise to resume, we know that many people in the state will continue to face food insecurity. We will continue to update the data and refine the interface. Have suggestions? Email us at food@nclocal.org.
